VERSE

First one to the blast light on,

coffee cold before the dawn,

lunch box show work boost tight,

tell the kids

I'm good and dry,

mortgage due and bills to pay,

another piece of me to trade,

everybody needs some.

Seems I'm the answer every day

I got real good at carrying weight

Got real bad at saying what breaks

Been so many years being strong

I forgot where I put myself

I never needed my name in the lights

Never needed praise

I just wanted to come home

CHORUS

And not feel erased

I can hold this whole world up,

can't repress it till my back gives way

But I can't make two hearts touch,

and that's what scares me these days

I don't need another someday,

I don't need another try

I need to know you still see me when you look me in the eye

I don't wanna be convenient

I don't wanna love half

open I can be the man they laid on

The one who carries every burden

But even strong men need somebody

God, I still need to feel chosen

VERSE

We became bills and calendar squares

Passing in hallways,

living upstairs Conversations turned to logistics

Updates instead of intimacy

I know life can wear love fans

I know kids and work get loud

Somewhere between surviving

We stopped choosing us

somehow

BRIDGE

I'm a thousand rows back home,

a front-step beer,

a switched-off phone,

a coffee together before the kids wake up.

Ten minutes on a cow,

a hand reaching for mile without me asking first.

It never had to be grand,

just something that said,

you still matter.

Because when somebody feels invisible long enough,

they start disappearing.

CHORUS

I don't need another

Sunday

I don't need another speech

I need to know this marriage is still somewhere within reach

I don't want to be tolerated

I don't want to be managed

I don't want to be accommodated

while we pretend we're not damaged

I can be the man

they lean

on I can carry what gets broken

But I still need somebody

who makes me feel chosen

VERSE

By the time most men finally speak,

they've already carried it for months

Replayed every conversation,

blamed themselves

a thousand times

Tried to fix it quietly,

tried not to become a burden

So when I tell you

I'm struggling,

it's not because

I just started hurting

It's because I'm finally

running out of places to hide

in. I worked holidays,

worked when I was sick,

worked weekends,

worked exhausted. Not because I love the work,

but because I love this stable.

And the hardest thing

I've ever admitted

is looking around now

and feeling like the marriage

I sacrificed for disappeared

while I was trying to save.

Kids don't need a picture

perfect

life They don't need parents

who never struggle

They need to see two people

Fight for something

worth keeping They need to see us laugh,

see us sit close,

see us choose each other again

and again Cause they're learning

what love looks

like from us

CHORUS

And some days the truth keeps me awake at night

I can't make you want

me I can't make you reach

for me I can't make you choose

me And I don't want a love that has to be begged

for I don't want affection given out of guilt

I want the real thing

The thing we used to have

I don't need another someday

I need something I can hold

A love that lives in what we do

BRIDGE

Not just stories we've been told I can carry all the pressure

And whether what gets broken

I can keep showing up

I can keep being strong

But the truth

I've been too scared to say

CHORUS

Is even strong men need somebody

Even husbands need somebody

And after all these years

I still need the feel chosen

Not wanted for what I provide

Not needed for what I carry

Not kept because leaving would be hard

OUTRO

Chosen

Just chosen
